I was lucky enough to have a paid 4-day holiday this past week, and used it wisely. In addition to checking out the new zones and dailies, and picking up 3/4 of the new pets on my main, I dropped Skin/LW on my (now Troll) druid and maxed out Herbalism and Mining as Cata prep. Druids are superior gatherers and mine happens to be my primary alt, so she will see a lot of play once my main is 85.
I then dropped Herbalism on my paladin, who is primarily a raiding alt and doesn't see a lot of questing, and therefore does not have much opportunity to gather. In its place I finally maxed out Blacksmithing! It was the only profession I have never had - crazy, I know.
I'm eventually going to tack Leatherworking onto another maxed alt, but for now I'm not concerned by its loss. My partner's main character is a LW, and I intend to help him level it to 525 come Cataclysm. Right now I'm trying to decide whether I should keep Mining on my hunter, or drop it for Skinning or LW, or just put Skinning/LW on a completely new alt. Decisions, decisions. At least it's been a productive and fun weekend. :)
