I am not the kind of person to hold grudges or get angry over the Auction House. It's PVP for cold-blooded people - it requires planning, long-term strategy, book
and street smarts, and a bit of luck. I have a few friends who get pissy about their competitors, but I'm not like that. Sure, I might have cursed a few's mothers, but I'd still have a beer with them and laugh about it.
Except for one guy.
We used to be in a guild together, where I secretly competed with him through an AH alt. Once he found out we had a chuckle, but he was eventually kicked from the guild for being pushy, loudmouthed and a bit of a dick. I still see him around, and I still see him wrestle with the AH and trade almost daily. (I say wrestle because when we were in guild he mentioned struggling at it, and sometimes I see him selling stuff for bizarre prices.)
The thing is, he is polite to me on my main. I've told him off for poor behavior in /2 before and he was courteous towards me. When my main isn't around, though, I've seen the same bad attitude he inflicts on other denizens of trade chat directed towards me.
He uses the dismissive "bro" language a lot, which is a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes he's polite to my alts buying things from him. Other times he is a rude POS. Today was one of the latter times. He was advertising some
Raging Behemoth's Shoulderplates in trade for 3000g (quite a steal...though he reserves all BoE's from his ICCs for himself, a practice I've never participated in). Since he knew the alt I was on, I hopped onto my glyph banker in UC, who is a level one with no hearthstone.
I whispered him and said, "I'll buy for 3000g, but I'm in UC with no hearthstone. :(" I saw him get to Dal and port to UC. When he got through the portal, though, he just sat there and said, "I'm in UC. You can run to me." I was on the other side of Undercity with no mount, and he chose to idle on his Mechano-hog.
Maybe he was chatting or something. Knowing this guy, though, I would wager gold that he was just being an asshole. When people are buying from me, I make a point to go to them, especially for a multi-thousand gold item...even more so if they are obviously a banker with limited transportation. I almost dropped group then and there, but a quick poke in the AH showed no other shoulders up and I decided the pleasure of flipping the item for 4000g profit far outweighed the scorn I have for him.
Do you have a grudge against a player? Do you completely ignore them and refuse to buy their goods, or do you seek them out in hopes of ripping them off?
(Edit, just sold the shoulders for 6145g....a 3145g profit just by waiting 5 hours.)
