A few patches back, WotLK reputation-based head and shoulder enchants were made Bind on Account. Players looking down the dark road of alt reputation grinds breathed a sigh of relief, and the number of people still grinding away at Sons of Hodir rep dropped rapidly. On my server, the price of Relics of Ulduar fell to rock-bottom prices. I haven't paid much attention to them until now, when I began gathering them for a Tailoring alt who needs rep patterns.
I am considering not using the Relics at all, and instead saving them for future achievement-hunters in Cataclysm. No one will be doing the Sons dailies except folks going for the achievement, and they will welcome stacks of extra Relics to make the grind fly by. Assess your server's prices and availability, and DON'T vendor or auction these puppies! They will be more useful in Cata than they are now for soon-to-be-outdated patterns or enchantments.

bug problem

A couple weeks ago I made some tentative forays into the Enchanting scrolls market only to discover a bot was reposting constantly. I reported him every time my ticket came back with a form letter, but he is still there. Even worse, he has moved into glyphs, cards, leg patches and belt buckles, slowly spreading from one market to the next. I know he is constantly reposting because I can post over and over and am always undercut by him, even immediately after I post. Taking advantage of my currently open schedule I have spied at all hours of the day, and he is always on - midnight, 3 AM, 5 AM, 11 AM, 3 PM, 10 PM.... Always. He is never offline.
All the times I have whispered him he has never replied, but I got to chatting with a couple competitors today and they had some information. Apparently they have spoken with the botter. He claims to have 4 accounts, 60 of each glyph and 30k IotS. He says he does not bot and that his roommate posts while he sleeps.
To me, this reeks of bullshit. Who in their right mind would sit at a computer for 16 hours hitting post every two minutes, and then when they were tired would have a roommate from heaven to take over the shift for 8 hours while you sleep? WTF? My roommates barely clean up their crap, they would never agree to anything like that - not even my most deadbeat of acquaintances would. So I think he is running a bot and is nearby while it goes.
I've reported him numerous times. I've reported all his characters. I've had guildmates report him, my competitors report him, random people in Trade report him. Blizz is refusing to do anything as he tears the market down using an impossible schedule with superhuman posting.
I know who is main is. What can I do with this information?
What can I do at all? I've talked to one of my more serious competitors and we are thinking about doing a 2-3g wall. To make his hideous labor a mere 1g profit, if he can get past our reposting. Personally I am thinking of walling even lower - I will lose money but the satisfaction would be worth it. Buying and relisting is futile because he will repost even before you finish getting the glyph from your mailbox.
I'm at a real loss. =( I don't like robots.

GDKP over for now
Some good news - I have a job at Intel! I've been looking for a full-time job for a long while, but it is very competitive where I live even for entry-level work. Fortunately a friend referred me for an open position so I am getting a full-time job with benefits! Yay! IRL gold!
The downside of that is giving up doing my GDKP runs, but it's not so bad - profits have dwindled with the end of WotLK looming and the runs were beginning to be too stressful and hectic for me to handle. I am also a hardcore introvert - with a lot of work I know I will want the weekends to be serious "me" time, time that I won't want to spend "herding cats."
All in all I'm satisfied. I've been doing gold runs since November/December of last year, a solid 8-9 months. I will definitely be starting them again in Cataclysm as soon as my alts are 85.

checking in
Epic leg armors and to an extent mining bags have been selling really well. I'm not sure why I didn't make them before, except I was lazy. I'm still getting rid of my last LW BoEs and dropped the price pretty steeply to encourage buyers.
Inscription has been hit or miss. Vellums are selling well but the Certificates of Ownership are not. :( Runescrolls are still moving slowly but surely.
The JC flooder has disappeared and prices have rebounded higher than they were before. Nom!

Elitist Jerks
Why do people assume that because of the name and the strict rules, the users on this site are actually jerks? The site has an amusing name, and a clear focus that should be the point of all posts. Why does quality control make contributing users "jerks" and "unkind"?
I've been informed that EJ's Banhammer forum is unkind. Why is it unkind to mock people who were asked to read rules upon signing up, and then flagrantly ignored them? I've never seen a truly unkind post in EJ directed at someone who took the time to actually read the rules when they signed up. Maybe that says something.

laziness
In the gold-making business, to be stagnant is to invite being crushed under your competition's boots. I feel like I've been exceptionally lazy lately, particularly in regards to three of my professions - Leatherworking, Inscription and Enchanting.
With LW, I've been exclusively making BoEs and with raiding winding down they are a slow seller with lots of competition. Inspired by Markco's short post on Borean Leather I decided to do some more basic crafting, pumping out some leg armors, mining bags, leatherworking bags, Drums of Forgotten Kings, and Drums of the Wild. With the dipping profit margin on gems I'm hoping these less popular raiding consumables with higher profit will make up for it. Leatherworking has always been a trusty profession for me simply because it's quite unpopular, and there is little competition. When I first started getting into gold-making I relied heavily on leatherworking with LilSparky's Workshop - it feels nice to get back to those roots.
I've fallen into a serious rut with Inscription and have only been making glyphs and Rituals of the New Moon. I got my butt in gear and crafted a lot of Certificates of Ownership, vellums, and Runescrolls tonight. I have high hopes for the Certificates in particular because there was literally one scroll on the AH when I've checked each time. Takeover!
Enchanting is a market I've never really "got into," which is ironic because my main is an enchanter with an assortment of decent enchants. I want to change this, especially in the heirlooms market. There is a lot of heirlooms competition on my server so I'm excited about figuring out the best way to jump in.
Even as an experienced auctioneer it's important to stop sometimes and look at the big picture. Are you relying too much on two to four main markets? (In my case, gems, glyphs and Titansteel.) Perhaps it's time to take another look at the slower-moving, less volatile markets and reinvest in the moderate, more reliable profits.
